400MW PV & 1.4GWh Energy Storage System Project, Red Sea Global, Saudi Arabia
World’s First GW-Grade Standalone Microgrid Powered Entirely by 100% Clean Energy
Case Details
Serving as the world’s first GW-scale standalone microgrid fully supplied with clean power, this project marks a landmark milestone in the global development of zero-carbon cities.
It stands as a signature flagship project under Saudi Vision 2030, as well as a benchmark case for the effective strategic alignment between China’s Belt and Road Initiative and Saudi national development strategies.
Case Highlights
PowerChina and Huawei jointly engage in Saudi Arabia’s national energy transition roadmap to co-build the energy storage project for Red Sea Global. As Huawei’s official cooperative partner, LAZZEN delivers customized intelligent power distribution solutions tailored exclusively for energy storage scenarios within this project.
Targeting high-temperature sandy geomorphic conditions, LAZZEN develops dedicated circuit breakers for photovoltaic and energy storage applications via technological innovation and material iteration. These breakers deliver prominent strengths including high breaking capacity, premium operational performance and compact footprint. The team mitigates temperature rise by widening busbar structures and optimizing contact configurations, while upgraded external metallic materials for ACBs are deployed to defend equipment against salt spray corrosion.
